Manchester City are set to be without Kevin de Bruyne for this weekend’s clash with Liverpool after he was injured against Atlético Madrid last night.

That’s according to RMC Sport, who say the Belgian midfielder will be absent for up to ten days with the injury picked up against Diego Simeone’s side.

City progressed to the semi-finals of the Champions League last night, with a 0-0 draw at the Wanda Metropolitano securing their progression after a 1-0 win in the first-leg last week.

While the victory was a happy affair, there was a major downside, with De Bruyne and Kyle Walker both picking up injuries in the game.

Pep Guardiola has already confirmed that Manchester City are in trouble because of the injuries, and RMC have provided further details on the issue.

They say that both players will absolutely miss the clash with Liverpool this weekend, with Pep Guardiola unable to count on either player.

According to the first ‘examinations’ carried out on De Bruyne, who ‘dazzled’ against Liverpool in the league, should be absent for at least ten days. More tests are needed to determine Walker’s injury.

That would potentially allow him to return for the first leg of the Champions League semi-final clash with Real Madrid on April 26th but would see him miss the clash with Liverpool and Premier League meetings with Brighton and Watford.

That’s a ‘hard blow’ for Manchester City, especially considering how the pair played against Liverpool last weekend and indeed in the games against Atlético.
