Unfortunately missing the last eight games of the Premier League season because of surgery to his knee, Moussa Sissoko’s season appears to be over.
Of course, that’s unless those in charge decide to finish the campaign at a later date, but, for now, the Tottenham midfielder is at home like everyone else, recovering, and waiting for the Covid-19 pandemic to be over.
With some spare time on his hands, the France international gave an interview to Europe 1 where he discussed the current situation, imploring people to stay at home because no one is ‘invincible’.
Explaining it would be with ‘great pleasure’ that he’d finish the current season, the midfield also looked back at how the season had gone up until football was suspended, admitting it could have gone better.
He said: “At one point, we had a lot of games, injuries, important players missing. The team was put in difficulty. We had bad results, we’re aware of that. If we have the chance to start the league again, everyone will be fit. We’ll be at full strength”.
Taking some time to convince Mauricio Pochettino following his move from Newcastle, the Frenchman eventually became a staple under the Argentine, which continued after José Mourinho’s appointment.
On the Portuguese manager, Sissoko said: “We’re happy with Mourinho. He brought a new freshness. We aren’t going to spit on what Pochettino did, he brought the club to a new level, but now our future is José Mourinho. We have objectives, fourth place is still doable. We’re going to do everything”.
Up until his surgery, Sissoko had made 26 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals and assisting another two.
