Italy manager Luciano Spalletti has revealed he regularly holds conversations with Aston Villa midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo in an attempt to get him back to his best form.
Forza Roma cover comments from the Italy boss today regarding the Aston Villa man as he struggles to reach his heights.
The midfielder is currently on loan at Villa Park from Galatasaray, having joined in the summer as part of the club’s efforts to reinforce their squad for this season.
The move is yet to really work out for either party, though, with Zaniolo only featuring in the starting 11 in the Premier League 54% of the time to date and in just 40% of the available minutes.
That has naturally led to questions about his loan deal at Aston Villa and whether it’s the right thing for either party.
In the meantime, it’s a question of getting the best out of him and Spalletti, who manages him for Italy, says he’s in regular contact to try and help on that front.
“Zaniolo is strong, I call him, and he is at home, alone, he needs affection,” he said.
“He has habits that are not always correct, having correct daily habits gives you more strength in your work. And I tell him this.
“Against Macedonia he had a bit of a sluggish return and then conceded a goal, but he is a strong player.”
