As usual, the Italian media has been linking Arsenal midfielder Jorginho with a move, and subsequent return, to Serie A.

That has been happening since the player left Napoli in 2018, and more recently, it was claimed he could reunite with Maurizio Sarri at Lazio.

That’s why his agent was once again interviewed about that subject. João Santos has had a conversation with TV Play, and dismissed the chances of a departure from Arsenal this summer.

“Jorginho is very happy with Arsenal who have a very important championship to play, at the beginning of August there is the Community Shield. There is no negotiation with Lazio. I don’t know if they have the money to pay the player, but that’s not the question.”

The agent also praised Gunners’ boss Mikel Arteta, and pinpointed him as one of the reasons why Jorginho wants to stay at the club.

“The theme is clear: the project for next year is to stay at Arsenal which can become the most important team in England. Coach Arteta is the most important in the Premier League, he understands modern football like no one else and, obviously, someone like Jorginho goes very well with someone like him.”

Outlet CalcioMercato.it shares some other quotes from the same interview.

“He stays really well at Arsenal and in our mind, for the next season, there is only the Gunners.”

Among the recent claims regarding Jorginho’s potential return to Serie A, there had been reports saying the midfielder ‘is leaving’ Arsenal this summer.

His agent’s quotes are therefore important to put an end to that subject. Partly because the representative has even teased with a transfer to Italy in the past, and that was not the case this time.

Jorginho has a contract with Arsenal until 2024, with an option for a further year, and is valued by Transfermarkt at €25m.
