Announcing they wouldn’t be keeping Daniele De Rossi beyond this season, Roma caused massive uproar in the local press.

Since then, rumours about his next step in football have circulated within the same media outlets, with a move to Boca Juniors touted as a possibility.

Another option presenting itself, according to Calciomercato on Tuesday, is Manchester City, who remind everyone how much of a fan of the player Pep Guardiola is.

However, any move to the Etihad for the 36-year-old wouldn’t be as a player, but to integrate the Spaniard’s coaching staff.

De Rossi has yet to announce whether he will retire after this season or continue his career as a leader and defensive midfielder elsewhere, but should he decide to hang up his boots, it is said Guardiola would ‘gladly’ bring him to Manchester City.

On top of the Cityzens and the aforementioned Argentine club, Sampdoria and even Napoli have all been mentioned as potential landing spots for the veteran.
