Until someone meets Nice’s €40m ‘gentleman’s agreement’ release clause for Jean-Michael Seri, the Ivory Coast midfielder will remain in the south of France.
That doesn’t mean clubs aren’t interested, however, as Le Parisien on Friday explain both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City are still interested in him, and if there’s two clubs you know can stump up the cash, it’s them.
The Ligue 1 side, however, do have FFP restrictions to try and avoid following their mad summer, and are only prepared to put up €25m for now, which, you would think, would put Manchester City in the lead.
In fact, Le Parisien reveal that Pep Guardiola ‘commissioned’ his transfer lackeys to meet with Seri’s agent in Manchester last week.
With four competitions to play for in the second half of the season, the Spaniard could very well look for another midfielder on top of his inevitable defensive reinforcement in January.
We’ll have to wait and see if the Premier League side move in the coming weeks or for the summer, but, as Le Parisien put it, Paris Saint-Germain aren’t alone in this anymore.
