On Friday afternoon, Pep Guardiola confirmed something everyone knew for a while: Leroy Sané wants out of Manchester City.

The manager explained the German forward had turned down the opportunity to renew at the Etihad, and would either leave in the summer or see out his contract with the Premier League club before exiting on a free.

Manchester City will have been preparing for this impending departure, and Guardiola himself has taken action by contacting a potential replacement.

Foot Mercato explain the Etihad club have turned their attention to Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey, and have ‘gathered all the information’ they need, including the competition they might face.

Furthermore, Guardiola has ‘already exchanged’ with the Jamaica international personally to ‘present his project to him’.

It’s stated Bailey is also keen on the move, as he is ‘very interested in playing under’ the Spanish manager.

With that now out of the way, it will be up to convincing Bayer Leverkusen, which will be no mean feat, especially with ‘other great European clubs also exploring the avenue’.
