Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is waiting to resolve his future as Chelsea continues to be his most likely destination.
Mundo Deportivo state the forward’s agent is acting as an intermediary, likely between the two clubs. After negotiating for a week, it is expected an agreement may ‘already be very close’.
The Gabon international has closed the details of a contract with Chelsea, who will pay him a substantial salary. Only the agreement between the two clubs is missing.
Thomas Tuchel’s side are aware they will have to ‘scratch their pockets’ to bring the 33-year-old to Stamford Bridge. Their interest didn’t stop Xavi Hernández starting him in the friendly against Manchester City at the Camp Nou on Wednesday.
Aubamyenag thanked the fans when he was substituted and it has been interpreted as a ‘possible farewell’. His departure can help the Blaugrana register Jules Koundé.
Another Catalan newspaper, Sport, has a report on the former Arsenal man, titled: ‘Tuchel wants to sign Aubameyang now’.
The manager has an urgent need to bolster his side’s attack and has asked Chelsea to make ‘one last effort to close once and for all’ the deal to bring Aubamyenag to the west London club.
He has an agreement with the English club over personal terms and the latter have raised their offer to €20m. Barca, down their end, are not in a hurry, to sell him even though they have to register Kounde. The La Liga side have asked the Frenchman to be patient.
Despite the current situation, there’s is optimism the deal to take the forward to Chelsea will go through.
