Brentford signed Michael Kayode on an initial loan deal with the option to buy in the winter transfer window.
There was a feeling of regret in Italy that Fiorentina had to move the promising defender on but so far, the youngster has struggled to settle at the London club.
He has played only four Premier League games and he is yet to start even once for Brentford. To make things worse, he is currently injured and nursing a knee problem.
There is now an indication that Thomas Frank’s side will not exercise their option to buy the 20-year-old.
La Nazione, as relayed by ViolaNews, have reported that Kayode’s future at the Bees ‘remains uncertain’ and the lack of game time is a key reason for that.
They believe that it is unlikely that Brentford will pay a fee of €16m to sign the player permanently and while the right-back’s fate is yet to be decided, the growing feeling is that there is a major risk of him returning to Fiorentina in the summer.
Kayode had played only five games in Serie A earlier this season for Fiorentina, who would have hoped to see him develop in a better way at Brentford.
