Newcastle United have been the subject of multiple takeover approaches, with fans continually hoping Mike Ashley doesn’t throw too many spanners in the works and someone will complete a purchase before being scared off.

One of those to have been linked previously is Grupo Orlegi. Their Newcastle interest is already widely known, but it’s not been so widely reported that they’ve also been keen on Southampton.

Mexico’s Miedo Tiempo reports the group have already purchased Atlas, and are now looking for a club in Europe.

There’s already been talks to try and find a suitable destination for their investment, and it’s claimed they’ve ‘probed’ both Newcastle and Southampton. After failing to reach an agreement with either of the Premier League clubs, the focus has now switched to Spain.

There it’s Granada and Leganes getting the attention, and Miedo Tiempo believes it won’t be long before Grupo Orlegi get their way and find a club in ‘the Old Continent’.
