Over the weekend, Brighton & Hove Albion’s José Izquierdo came off the bench in his side’s 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United and it was his first appearance for the Seagulls in two years.

A knee injury he suffered in April 2019 has kept the winger on the sidelines for the 2019/20 season and most of this campaign.

Having regained full fitness last October, the 28-year-old made a handful of appearances for Brighton’s U23 side in the first half of the season.

Club Brugge showed interest in bringing the Colombian back to the club in the past, but a deal never took shape because the demands made by Graham Potter’s side were considered excessive.

According to Votebal24, the Jupiler Pro League side still retain an interest in the wideman. It’s claimed they view him as an ‘ideal replacement’ for Noa Lang, who is expected to leave Club Brugge in the next market.

The Belgian side had concerns over Izquierdo’s fitness. The report adds that ‘obstacle’ has now been removed as his latest appearance for Brighton shows the attacker’s injury woes are behind him.

Izquierdo’s contract expires on June 30th and this makes it a ‘great opportunity’ for Club Brugge to sign the player on a free transfer in the summer. More ‘concrete news’ on this case is expected after this season.
