Rangers will be looking to challenge Celtic for the Scottish Premiership next season. They first have to appoint a new permanent manager but have started preparations, along with Brendan Rodgers’ side, to reshape their squad.
Celtic and Rangers have set their sights on Djurgårdens IF Fotboll’s Oskar Fallenius for the summer window.
That’s according to Fotboll Direkt, and they indicate Celtic and Rangers could be set for a battle soon.
He has been used on both wings and as a wing-back this year, managing two goals and three assists from 20 games. The 23-year-old has managed to attract interest from the two Scottish clubs.
Fotboll Direkt state Celtic and Rangers interest ‘has been so great’ that both clubs have sent representatives to Sweden to watch him live on several occasions.
Brendan Rodgers’ side and their rivals haven’t tabled any bids yet. The report states the two clubs are considering making offers for the Swede, without providing any details of the fee they could propose.
It’s also unclear whether Djurgårdens would be willing to sell the versatile player in the upcoming window and if so, what would be their demand. Fallenius’s contract lasts until December 2026.
