Among the many names who’ve been linked to the Manchester United job over the past few days, there was a new one in the rumour mill today. That’s Rudi Garcia.

Reports from France claimed that the Red Devils have ‘interviewed’ the former Lyon manager as they’d want him as a caretaker at Old Trafford. It was claimed that his ‘perfect ability to speak English’ is one of the factors that made him a candidate.

Garcia, who left his last job as a manager in May, is commentating on the Champions League match between Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain on French TV this evening. And speaking to Canal Plus, he took those rumours very lightly.

“They say I’m at Manchester, I’m there (laughs). I’m here to comment (on the match). Quite simply, I am not used to commenting on rumours of negotiations with clubs so I have nothing to say on that subject. It is a great European club but once again I do not confirm or deny these rumours or this information,” he said (via Foot Mercato).

That earlier report claimed that other names Manchester United have on the list are Lucien Favre, Paulo Fonseca, Ralf Rangnick and Ernesto Valverde.

Those are all said to be candidates to take charge temporarily while the club buy time for a long-term solution.
