Late in the last summer window, Brighton & Hove Albion took Jakub Moder and Michał Karbownik from Lech Poznań and Legia Warsaw respectively.
The Seagulls immediately allowed the duo to return to their former clubs on loan deals and already recalled Moder last month.
Karbownik was initially expected to finish the season in Warsaw, but there has now been a new development.
According to Legia.net, Graham Potter’s side want to cut short the 19-year-old’s loan deal and ‘talks are ongoing on this matter’.
It’s claimed the Premier League club’s idea is to get the Poland international back and then send him out on loan to Anderlecht. As per the report, Brighton have a ‘great desire’ to shorten the player’s loan deal and send him to Belgium.
Karbownik is managed by former footballer Mariusz Piekarski and the agent is doing everything to ensure his client can continue at Legia Warsaw until the end of this campaign. The same desire is also shared by the Polish club.
Legia.net published this on Tuesday and have updated the report by providing additional details.
The website states that apart from Anderlecht, clubs from Spain and England are interested in taking the player on loan in the winter market. It is also possible for him to stay at The Amex.
Karbownik and his agent’s wish is to continue where they are for another six months so the midfielder can fight for a place in the national team for Euro 2020: ‘It is up to Brighton to decide’.
It remains to be seen whether Legia Warsaw will be successful in their efforts to convince Potter’s side in retaining the teenager for the rest of the campaign.
