Brighton and Hove Albion youngster Yasin Ayari has insisted he’d love to see Malmö FF manager Henrik Rydström join the Seagulls this summer.
The youngster has been speaking to Aftonbladet about the managerial search at Brighton this summer and whether that could see the appointment of a fellow Swede in the role.
Brighton are currently without a manager after parting ways with Roberto de Zerbi at the end of the season.
They had enjoyed a rapid and unprecedented rise under the Italian since his arrival but their opposing views on the future direction of the club led to De Zerbi coming to an agreement to leave.
The hunt is now on for his replacement, with Brighton often having proven to be very forward thinking in that department in the past, with appointments such as Graham Potter and De Zerbi.
Both of those were somewhat left-field at the time and demonstrated the club’s management is not afraid to think outside of the box when hiring their managers.
Whether that would ever lead them to Sweden again remains to be seen but Ayari would absolutely welcome the arrival of Rydström if they did.
“Honestly?! Okay! Didn’t know that. Is it just a rumour or? How sick! But great fun if he comes,” he said when the idea was offered to him.
“He is a great coach who likes to play good football. It would be great if he came.
“The rumour can’t be completely stupid, because Brighton looks a lot at data and statistics, and I think he has very good statistics in the Allsvenskan when it comes to such things.”
