On February 20th, Calciomercato explained Frank Lampard’s stay at Chelsea beyond this season will be ‘decisive’ for Marcos Alonso to make a decision on his future.
Inter Milan have been linked with the 29-year-old and two days ago, the left-back’s father revealed his son “loves Italy”. He was at Fiorentina between 2013 and 2016 before joining the Blues.
According to FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri will look to strengthen the fullback position in the summer and the Spain international is Antonio Conte’s ‘preferred’ target.
Even though Frank Lampard has given Alonso more opportunities in recent fixtures, the prospect of the player leaving Stamford Bridge hasn’t changed.
The Blues are said to be targeting Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell and his arrival will force either Alonso or Emerson Palmieri out of the club. Inter like the duo, but Conte prefers the former.
Alonso wants to have regular playing time and he can accomplish it, if he moves to the San Siro. In addition to this, ‘Italy is in his heart’.
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia doesn’t consider Alonso as non-transferable, and it’s claimed she’s set a price level of €35m. Inter, however, find the price too high.
Inter will ‘need’ a discount from the Premier League side and the report doesn’t mention a figure which the Italian side are ready to offer for Alonso.
There’s still time for Inter to convince Chelsea as Alonso remains the ‘favourite’ target for next season.
