Following reports claiming Sporting midfielder Matheus Nunes has been stalling on making a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, we now get something more optimistic from newspaper Record today.
The outlet writes that the player and club have ‘everything forwarded’ for him to join the Molineux side next season.
It’s said the transfer should happen only in July, when he returns from his holidays in Brazil.
According to Record, Wolves have a bid ‘prepared’ worth €45m plus €5m in bonuses. That €50m is exactly the amount set by Sporting to sell the player this summer, just a little below his €60m release clause.
The newspaper points out there have been other competitors in the race and the player even showed his will of staying at Sporting, but ‘the process should really advance’, with Jorge Mendes taking care of everything. T
hey are now just waiting for Nunes to return from Rio de Janeiro.
With the Portuguese media many times claiming the clubs had an agreement for the transfer and only the player’s positive response was missing, it seems his green light was indeed the only factor left for the transfer to proceed.
Now Wolves need to hope no other club appear between now and his return from Brazil.
