Bruno Alves was one of two players cut from Portugal’s match-day squad for their last international game.

The Rangers player sat out the match against Andorra, along with Swansea City loan signing Renato Sanches, whether it be through fitness concerns or simply the choice of Portugal’s coach.

Now there’s brighter news for the Rangers defender, and Bruno Alves has been named in the 23 man squad submitted to UEFA, report Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.

Tuesday evening’s match between Portugal and Switzerland is absolutely crucial in World Cup qualifying, and Bruno Alves will be happy to be in the group. Sanches is also joining him in the return, and Bruno Fernandes and Neto are the ones to miss out.

The Ibrox faithful will be pleased their defender is in for the big game, and Pedro Caixinha will hope it indicates Bruno Alves is fully firing and fully fit, ahead of Rangers’ upcoming fixtures.
