Lucas Perez has been at his former club Deportivo La Coruna whilst recovering from injury. On the end of a poor tackle in the EFL Cup match against Reading last month, the return to Spain was felt to be the best way to get Perez back quickly.
Depor’s medical staff know the player well, and he’s an absolute hero at the club so will have been very welcome indeed.
Now, he’s on his way back.
Spanish newspaper Marca report in their Monday edition that Perez will be returning to London and Arsenal this afternoon. There’s no injury update, but previous articles whilst the forward has been in Spain suggested December will be when he makes his comeback.
There’s no suggestion Perez went back to Depor because he’s not yet settled in England, and the Spaniard made sure to praise manager Arsene Wenger: “He helps you become a better player and, although he seems serious, he’s a great person and a great coach. People respect and loves him very much.”
That’s got to go down well in Wenger’s office.
