Rennes midfielder James Léa Siliki is close on joining Middlesbrough, according to reports from France.
The news about the move comes from RMC Sport journalist Loic Tanzi, who says it’s ‘all good’ for the 25-year-old to join the Championship side.
Léa Siliki is initially signing for Boro on a one-year loan deal, but the contract includes an ‘almost automatic’ option to buy for €2.5m.
That’s all Tanzi has to report for now, with RMC Sport adding that he’s signing a three-year contract with the English side.
Back on Monday, reports from France had already claimed the player was flying to England for the move, so this new update makes it sound like it’s indeed all sorted.
Siliki, who’s still to feature for Rennes this season, has been at the club since 2017. He wasn’t used very much last season, as he first struggled with injuries and was then hardly even taken to the bench, having only made 12 appearances.
The midfielder was linked a few times to Watford this year, but it seems he’s now heading to Middlesbrough instead.
