It appears that the future of Everton loanee Niels Nkounkou is becoming a near daily topic of discussion in France.
The left-back has been at Saint-Etienne since January after his loan with Cardiff was cut short, and has impressed greatly since his arrival.
So much so that many, including Laurent Hess, have been urging the Ligue 2 side to spend money to make the move for the Everton defender permanent.
Speaking on But! Football Club, the journalist was discussing the deals Saint-Etienne need to sort out in the coming months, and focused on the renewal of Jean-Philippe Krasso before talking about Nkounkou.
About the Everton player, he said: “There’s also the Niels Nkounkou affair, with an option to buy at €2m that would be good to trigger when looking at the level of service the left-footed player has put since his arrival.”
When the deal was announced, there was no talk of an option to buy in the deal, but as time has gone by, news has filtered that it exists.
This could be great news for Everton, who never seemed to fully trust the player, as they will be glad to make some profit from a transfer, having initially spent €270k to get him from Marseille in 2020.
