Gonzalo ‘Pity’ Martinez’s agent seems to be doing a mini tour of Europe speaking to clubs who are interested in his client.
Martinez is a 25 year old attacking midfielder who can play on either side or through the middle, and he’s been at River Plate since 2015, where he has a good scoring record.
Calciomercato.it report that Lazio, Everton, Southampton and Tottenham are all keen on the player, and his agent has travelled to Europe.
It’s stated that Marcelo Simonian made a trip to England, and whilst there’s no direct claim of talks with the clubs mentioned, the insinuation is that was probably the reason for the trip.
The player has a €15m release clause at River Plate and despite being born in Argentina, and spending his entire career there, he holds an Italian passport so there’d be no worries over a work permit.
In 128 games for River Plate he’s scored 23 goals and provided the same number of assists.
Tottenham are regularly linked to players in South America, and Everton links are increasing after the club took on Marcel Brands. Southampton aren’t so often mentioned when it comes to players based there.
