Amadou Onana is set to sign a five-year deal at Everton, with a €36m deal excluding bonuses on the table.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who provide details on the impending move for the Belgian today.

They explain that Onana is ‘set to sign’ for Everton in a €36m deal excluding bonuses and he is now close to signing a five-year deal with the Toffees.

West Ham has been the favourites for his signature and even made three bids, the latest arriving on Tuesday and being worth €35m plus €5m in bonuses.

They failed to reach an agreement with the player and his entourage, though, opening the door to competition. Everton ‘took advantage’ of this and made their move.

They’ve proposed a ‘golden deal’ as far as Lille are concerned, as Onana only arrived in a €7m deal last summer. Even the 15-20% clause Hamburg have on that deal isn’t going to dampen their happiness at it.

Onana is now ‘expected to travel’ to England this weekend and he will not be in Lille’s squad for the start of the Ligue 1 season against Auxerre.
