Some days ago, Italy boss Luciano Spalletti spoke about Burnley’s Luca Koleosho in an interview, and it’s encouraged an avalanche of Italian attention.
The former Napoli manager was full of praise for the Clarets player, who has two goals in the Championship this season.
It now seems as if the Burnley youngster could very much be in line for a shock call-up to the Italian national team.
Tuttomercatoweb have reported that Spalletti and the Italy staff have now pre-alerted the 20-year-old, who can be called up by the Azzurri if Lazio’s Mattia Zaccagni pulls out of the squad for the upcoming Nations League games.
This has caused some amount of curiosity in Italy about the Burnley winger and a detailed report has been published on Gianluca Di Marzio’s website.
It describes Koleosho as the ‘golden boy of the three worlds’ because the youngster was born in the United States, has a Nigerian father but his mother is Italian-Canadian. As a result, he has as many as four passports.
The report states that the Clarets’ talent has impressed many at youth level for Italy and it is no surprise that Spalletti has kept a close eye on him for some time now.
Inevitably, Serie A sides will start to take notice.
