Romelu Lukaku has been accused of only returning to Chelsea for the money as they close in on a move for him.
The Blues are seemingly pushing ahead with a big-money move for the Belgian, having given up their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
Thomas Tuchel and co are keen on signing an elite level striker this summer and had targeted the Norwegian but faced resistance from Dortmund, who would rather wait a year and let him go next summer.
Thus, they have turned their attention to Lukaku and are pushing ahead with a €100m plus move after tempting Inter into a sale.
Lukaku is reportedly keen on the move and has made it clear he wants a third spell in the Premier League after stints at Everton and Manchester United, as well as a year on loan with West Bromwich Albion.
That came during his time at Chelsea, where he struggled to make an impact and was eventually sold to the Toffees after a loan spell there.
Indeed, his time at Stamford Bridge was considered a major flop, and Antonio Cassano can’t understand why he’d want to return.
“If the figures are those, I will personally take him there,” Tuttomercatoweb report him saying on Twitch.
“But then I want to understand some of the circumstances, in England, he had two very bad experiences, a good one with Everton, and he returns there.
“I ask a question: at Inter, he gets 8 million; at Chelsea, they offer him 14 million, according to what I read.
“You come back to a team that didn’t appreciate you, so I ask: are you going for the money?”
