Ayoze Perez has never been shy when it comes to talking about a potential Newcastle United exit.
He last signed a contract with the Premier League club in 2016, and that deal runs until 2021. Despite Newcastle seemingly holding all the power, Perez has made it clear on repeat occasions that an exit is very much in his thinking.
This week he’s been linked to Serie A clubs, along with Tottenham and Arsenal. The claims have been coming quickly from Italy, and it appears there’s an intermediary trying to build a deal which can then be presented to Newcastle.
There’s been talk of a release clause around €30m, although it’s thought to be less for clubs outside of England.
But Italy isn’t where Perez is really looking to play, a return to Spanish football has long been the forward’s desire.
Originally from Tenerife, the 25 year old has been speaking to Cadena Ser’s Canary island station. Quizzed on a transfer, he said: “It’s going to be a very long summer.”
He plans to study the offers which come his way, and will “choose well”, with a move to Spain’s top division tempting because he’s only played in the second tier there.
Never one to lack confidence, Perez is also aiming for the Spanish national team, saying: “I’m a better footballer than before. I try to have the merit so they can count on me.”
Cadena Ser assume that Newcastle won’t stand in his way, given how open Perez is being about a transfer.
