Tottenham Hotspur’s Bryan Gil has been on loan at Sevilla since the winter market. He has enjoyed a good run with the La Liga side, which has helped him return to the Spain squad for the ongoing international break.

He is currently with the national team and that allowed Canal Sur to have a chat with the 22-year-old. His comments are relayed by Marca.

Although the Tottenham owned player is enjoying life at Sevilla, the Spanish club have been struggling. They are in 14th spot, two points ahead of Valencia and UD Almería, who are 18th and 19th respectively.

Gil, who has a goal and an assist from seven league matches, remains confident Sevilla will continue in the top flight next season.

“I look at my teammates and I’m sure that this Sevilla team won’t go down. We’re going to get higher. Whoever believes that this team is in the Segunda Division knows neither the club nor the players,” he said.

Earlier this week, Sevilla sacked Jorge Sampaoli and appointed José Luis Mendilibar as his successor. The Tottenham loan attacker knows the latter well as he played under his orders at Eibar during the 2020/21 season.

Gil remains confident the new manager can help Sevilla in the final two months of this season.

“Mendilibar is a coach I know a lot and he’s going to help us a lot. He can be very good for the team. He will provide intensity and pressure. People are going to like him,” Gil explained.
