Former Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has found himself being criticised in Italy, with his performances for Lazio raising questions.
That’s at least according to former Belgium star Radja Nainggolan, who has torn into the former Arsenal midfielder in his analysis relayed by Foot Mercato.
Guendouzi has been with the Italian side since the summer after arriving on loan from Marseille, where he had fallen out with those in charge at the club.
He’s been a regular for Lazio this season, making 44 appearances in all competitions to date and featuring in 79% of the available minutes in the league alone.
They have an obligation to buy him under certain conditions and it remains to be seen if those conditions are met before the summer.
They eventually ended up loaning him out before selling him to Marseille in 2022 and he only managed a year there before they sent him out on loan to Lazio.
Nainggolan certainly doesn’t believe the latter should be spending money on him, ripping into him in his analysis.
“I don’t understand why Igor Tudor benched Luis Alberto,” he said.
“Guendouzi only knows how to run. Guendouzi is a pipe, I tell you clearly. Give me just one quality of Guendouzi? Only one. How many goals did he score? One. Just one quality, tell me? He is fast. No.
“And if you tell me he has endurance, that’s a quality for athletics, not for a football player. For me, he is not a player worthy of playing at Lazio, worthy of playing in a big club, in a team in the first half of the table.”
