Giovanni van Bronckhorst has backed his Rangers staff member Dave Vos to be a success at Ajax, should he join them in the summer.
The former Rangers boss has been speaking to ESPN about Vos’ potential move up the ranks at Ajax and backed him to be a success, after working alongside him at Ibrox during his time in the dugout.
Reports in the Netherlands have linked Vos with a move to Ajax in the summer as they plan a major rebuild of the club following a disastrous couple of years.
Those reports have claimed Vos is set to be a part of Ajax’s technical staff next season, with the 40-year-old even publically admitting that he hopes to be the head coach of the Dutch giants at some point in the future.
Whether that’s on the cards for him remains to be seen but the plan is for Vos, who is currently in charge of Ajax’s U21 side after joining them in October last year, to get a role with the first-team next season in some capacity.
“He really sifted through the Europa League opponents and worked out everything in detail,” he said.
“The experience with Rangers in the Europa League and Champions League has helped him in his development.
“I once spent an hour and a half discussing with him about when Scott Arfield should come in and which passing lines he should keep closed.
“He is very involved in everything and was a good support for me. He is a nice boy to work with and he is that way towards players. His way of training is very good.
“You have to make players better. You could see that back to him. Assistants also have to challenge me in tactics and solutions. It was a very nice collaboration.
“Then he will come into his strength. He needs a trainer who will play with him and from there come up with a good plan. He always has to push the bar. He is also someone who can always do that. Ultimately, he decides where his ceiling is.”
