Despite already getting a few players in, West Brom, alongside Hull City, seem to be the most active club in the Premier League on this transfer deadline day.

In case you’d missed any, Tony Pulis already brought in Nacer Chadli from Tottenham, Matt Phillips from QPR and Brendan Galloway on loan from Everton, and he’s expecting a few more before 11pm on Wednesday.

Suggesting he wanted five new players, a new striker appears to be on his agenda as reports in Germany hint he made an approach for a former Chelsea and Wigan goalscorer.

According to Ruhr Nachrichten, who spoke to Schalke’s sporting director, West Brom have approached the Gelsenkirchen club about Franco Di Santo, who scored eight goals in 34 appearances for them last season.

Not exactly thrilled at the prospect of returning to England, the Argentinean striker made it clear he wanted to stay in Germany, meaning a deal for his services is unlikely to happen.

The former Chelsea striker would have given Pulis another attacking option behind Salomon Rondon as Saido Berahino still seeks an exit.

On the other hand, with a less than inspiring goalscoring record, maybe they’ve dodged a bullet.
