Tottenham Hotspur have long been interested in Ante Rebic, report SportBild, having been keen before he swapped RNK Split for Fiorentina five years ago.
At the time, Spurs were being linked to several youngsters in Croatia and it seemed they were looking at potentially making swoops on more than one. But buying from the country was so difficult Tottenham seemed to walk away from several potential moves.
The now 24 year old couldn’t really break through at the Florence club and went on loans to RB Leipzig, Hellas Verona and Eintracht Frankfurt. It’s at the latter that he found his form and a permanent move to Germany has been confirmed for this summer.
SportBild say Tottenham are ‘showing interest again’, there’s been no concrete offer and if Spurs are to make a move it could be a slow process, with Rebic currently at the World Cup with Croatia.
A versatile attacker, the right footer had primarily been known as a left sided player, but was more central for Frankfurt on occasion last season. He scored nine goals and made two assists.
According to the German magazine, Frankfurt would be looking at €30m+ for the player, partly because they have to give a percentage to Fiorentina.
Tottenham would probably think that seems a little high.
Huddersfield Town are also said to be keen, but Rebic isn’t interested in such a move.
