Manchester City and Liverpool are ‘hot candidates’ to sign Mahmoud Dahoud, according to this week’s edition of Kicker. The German magazine believe Borussia Monchengladbach have got a difficult task on their hands if they want to keep the midfielder.
Gladbach are having a terrible season, currently 14th in the Bundesliga, and the last thing they need is for Dahoud to head off to Liverpool or Manchester City in the summer. There are other candidates too, with Kicker stating Juventus and AC Milan are also keen.
Jurgen Klopp is linked to any good Bundesliga youngster who may be remotely available, and Pep Guardiola’s time at Bayern Munich means Manchester City are also favourites to be linked, so it’s no surprise to see the two clubs mentioned again.
Dahoud’s current contract expires in June 2018 and if Gladbach don’t get a renewal they’ll need to sell him in the summer. The club’s general manager Max Eberl is quoted as saying: “We’ll have more talks soon.”
Both Liverpool and Manchester City have been linked repeatedly, but the worry for Gladbach is that this has been going on for many months… and there’s still no sign of an imminent renewal.
