German magazine SportBild this week claims Liverpool have provided Jurgen Klopp with €47m for the January transfer window.
It sounds a strange amount, and SportBild don’t mention any other sources, making it sound very much like it’s their own information, especially because it’s published in their ‘Inside Kolumne’.
Liverpool’s board is said to have recognised Klopp’s need for new ‘impulses’ in Liverpool’s attack, to turn draws into defeats.
The first player named as a Liverpool target is Bayer Leverkusen’s 20 year old Julian Brandt, and SportBild say they’ve learned the Bundesliga club would be willing to sell for something similar to the €50m Manchester City paid for Leroy Sane.
Other possibilities for Klopp and Liverpool apparently include Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gabigol.
There’s real confidence in Germany that Liverpool are prepared to back Klopp financially, but spending £40m in the winter window would be something of a surprise.
Attack may not be the area Klopp needs to improve in most, with the club still looking shaking at times in defence.
The German media love linking Bundesliga players to Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool and, for us, there doesn’t seem to be a great leap forward in these latest SportBild claims.
