Earlier today it was reported in Germany that Leicester City and Bayer Leverkusen had finally come to an agreement for Demarai Gray’s transfer.
The two clubs had been in negotiations for weeks, with the Foxes said to be holding out for €3m, and Bayer not wanting to go that high given Gray’s contract was set to expire this year.
Earlier it was suggested the fee agreed was €2-3m, which seemed like a compromise had been reached between the parties involved.
However, Bild now report Gray has left Leicester City ‘for free’. They further explain there are possible bonus payments based on what happens with the player between now and when his Bayer contract ends in June 2022.
Those payments would be ‘well below €1m in total’ should they all be triggered.
In addition, should Gray extend his contract beyond 2022 then Leicester could then be entitled to another bonus, the amount of which hasn’t been revealed by Bild.
The player had to travel to Germany on Friday evening, to avoid the country’s travel ban.
