Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich has been one of the most significant potential transfers this summer, with hints throughout the summer he’d be returning to his homeland.
Earlier this month we covered a report that suggested he was on the verge of a huge money move and that he would miss the Community Shield clash with Liverpool to avoid an injury that could scupper the move.
Sane then started the game but was forced off within 13 minutes after falling awkwardly under a challenge from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The extent of his injury is unknown, with some reports suggesting it is simply fluid on his knee and others saying it may be worse than first thought.
Manchester City are yet to provide deals on the extent of the injury and Kicker have a theory about that today.
The issue of Sane came up in an interview with Bayern president Uli Hoeneß in which he stated that Bayern will only post ‘facts’ and that reporters would have to ‘ask the English’.
Kicker say that City will make an announcement today but are waiting for the transfer window to close before doing so. Until then, they have instructed anyone interested just to wait.
The insinuation is that Manchester City are waiting until after the English transfer window closes to use it as an excuse to keep hold of Sane, although that’s not explicit.
Either way, an announcement on Sane’s injury is seemingly imminent, and that is likely to play a significant role in where he ends up playing his football next season.
