A week ago, Sport Witness covered claims from SportBild in Germany that Arsenal had moved forward with an effort to sign Bernd Leno, and an announcement on the move could be quick.

Arsenal have been linked with several goalkeepers this summer, but the Leno claims were certainly strong.

Bayer Leverkusen were happy to facilitate the sale as long as a club came forward with between €20m and €25m, figures which certainly seemed achievable for Arsenal.

After signing Lukas Hradecky, the Bundesliga side made it clear the new man would be their first choice, and that left Leno trying to find himself a new club.

Several sides including Napoli and Atletico Madrid were linked with the German goalkeeper, but the Arsenal claims appeared to be the strongest.

Now Bild’s Christian Falk says the move will be announced tomorrow, bringing the deal to a close.
