Hamburger Morgenpost stirring the pot over Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s Leeds United situation has got a few German fans speaking.
After Leeds’ victory over Middlesbrough it was suggested he’d been dropped from the squad, and after the Wolves defeat, MoPo said the player’s situation is a ‘riddle’.
The whole slant of the German articles seems very much to give as negative an impression as possible, without actually saying much, and that can be seen from the comments being left.
MoPo’s first article, hinting Lasogga had been dropped, motivated a comment from a Hamburg fan saying “That sounds familiar.”
Their latest article has got rather more, including a big dose of German sarcasm.
One fan says: “He’s about to move to Real Madrid and can’t hurt himself, that’s the reason.”
One goes for the jugular: “The riddle about Lasogga is very clear. He’s just too weak for the 2nd league and it was quickly recognised. The problem is, he comes back to HSV and now the people in charge are faced with another problem. How does HSV get him from the payroll? Can only loan to who is willing to take him. Hopefully the contract will be over soon so that the HSV (then without Holtby and Lasogga these big earners for nothing) can breathe again.”
Another fan says that Leeds United are now seeing what actually happens with Lasogga, and the general consensus is that there’s trouble ahead.
Many Hamburg fans of course want Lasogga to fail. With the German club in yet another simmering crisis, both on and off the pitch, Lasogga ripping it up at Elland Road would be hard to take, so it all falling to pieces would be welcomed.
Added to MoPo stirring it, and this is where things are. If it isn’t a mess, and Lasogga is ill or injured, then it needs making clear quickly.
