German newspaper Bild have bit back at Manchester United defender Matthijs de Ligt following comments he made after he left the Bundesliga club.
The Netherlands international signed for the Red Devils from Bayern Munich during the last transfer window and talked about his transfer during the international break.
Speaking about his move Old Trafford at the weekend, De Ligt said he’s happy to be playing in the Premier League because he feels he’s now more in the spotlight. The defender explained that more people watch England’s top flight than the same level in Germany.
Bild have become strangely upset over the comments, and report it as the Manchester United player sending taunts towards where he used to play.
They’ve highlighted Bayern Munich had a better average attendance in the league last season compared to Manchester United and they’ve also made him the scapegoat for the Dutch conceding their second goal on Saturday night.
The German media outlet say De Ligt was out of position, which allowed Bosnia’s Edin Dzeko to score an easy tap in to make the score 3-2, the same day he made his comments about German football.
De Ligt is set to face Germany tomorrow night in Amsterdam and Bild look to be trying to add a little spice to it.
