Union Berlin just missed out on promotion to the Bundesliga this season, finishing fourth, and are doubly determined to achieve that aim next year.
Therefore, rumours that Norwich City are interested in their manager have caused a little stir in the German media. Norwich have been linked with more than their fair share of managers over the past week or so, and whilst Union Berlin are keen to jump up to the Bundesliga, the Canaries are equally keen to get back to Premier League football.
An 8th place finish gives Norwich a good base to attack the top of the Championship table, and Union’s Jens Keller is a managerial target, according to The Daily Mail.
Those claims have been covered in the German media, with the general feeling being that Keller has a job to do at Union, and, more importantly, is eager to stay and get promotion.
BZ Berlin typify the German reaction, and say: ‘In the English media Keller is rumoured as the next coach of English second division club Norwich City. But Keller says that next year he wants to get promotion with Union.’
