Manchester City appear to have given Bayern Munich a warning at some point over the past few months, regarding the German club’s conduct over Leroy Sane.
Bayern have been interested in the player for some time, and were very public about their intention to take him away from Pep Guardiola’s side.
Club officials spoke publicly, players used the media to try and entice the Manchester City player, and then, relatively recently, things changed.
Now the noises out of Bayern are about speaking to Sane’s club first, and that means Manchester City, not the group of people who currently represent him.
There’s also been confusion over who has been treating the player’s injury, with rumours Bayern doctors had been involved.
That’s likely because Dr Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt works both from his own practice and with the club.
Speaking to SportBild this week he was asked about the Manchester City player, and replied: “I was involved because I know Leroy from the national team. I gave him the advice to go to Innsbruck. FC Bayern was not involved in this matter at all.”
Innsbruck is the home to knee specialist Dr Fink.
Müller-Wohlfahrt was also asked about his arguments with the current Manchester City manager, something which made the doctor walk out on Bayern Munich for a period: “Views on the treatment of injuries and the suitability for playing were too different. In my many years as a doctor at FC Bayern, I have mostly worked extremely well with over 20 coaches. With Pep Guardiola it just didn’t fit that way. But that’s history now.”
