Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has confirmed the club are interested in Manchester City forward Leroy Sané.
The German was heavily linked with a return to the Bundesliga in the summer, with Bayern seemingly willing to pay a big price to make a move happen.
A deal looked close to happening, with reports suggesting Bayern and Manchester City had agreed on a mega deal to let Sané move.
However, the forward then suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the Community Shield win over Liverpool, ruling him out for the majority of this season.
That injury ruled out a move to Bavaria, although there have been constant reports that Bayern remain keen and will return in the summer.
Hainer has hinted that may be the case, confirming the club remain interested in the German.
“Sané is a great player that we are interested in, which is also known. Now you have to see how he comes back after his injury,” Sport.de report him saying at a fan club visit on Sunday.
While that is far from a transfer vow, it certainly shows Bayern haven’t forgotten about Sané just yet.
They are likely waiting to see how he recovers from his injury before making a move, which would be the smart move to make.
