Germany’s Nation Team Director Oliver Bierhoff has expressed his delight at Thomas Tuchel taking charge at Chelsea.
The former Paris Saint-Germain manager arrived at Chelsea at the end of last month after they took the decision to sack club legend, Frank Lampard.
It is hoped his arrival can ensure the Blues secure Champions League football this season, with that looking like an increasingly difficult task towards the end of Lampard’s reign.
Aside from that, it is also believed that the German has been brought to Stamford Bridge in an attempt to get the best of out of big summer signings Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, with the German duo having struggled since moving to London.
Whether that happens remains to be seen, although the early signs are positive, with Chelsea picking up seven points from their first three games under Tuchel.
Havertz and Werner are yet to show signs of improvement, but Bierhoff is expecting that to change in the near future.
“I was happy about his move,” he told SportBILD.
“That is not directed against Frank Lampard; it’s because I really appreciate Thomas Tuchel and have always heard a lot of positive things about him from our players.
“He has repeatedly proven that he can make players better. I am sure that he will mobilize the quality and strength of our German players at Chelsea.
“Under Tuchel you will get even more stability and stability to assert yourself in the Premier League.”
