After losing Idrissa Gana Gueye this week, Everton have moved quickly to sign up his replacement before next week’s deadline.

Jean-Philippe Gbamin appears to be the player they’ve identified to fill the hole left by the Senegal midfielder, and a move is progressing quickly.

Earlier today we covered a report from Sky Germany that stated that Everton had an agreement in place with Mainz for the midfielder and that he could undergo a medical tomorrow.

Soccer Link add to that and suggest that things may move earlier than that. They say the midfielder could complete his move ‘in the coming hours’, implying that his medical may be sooner than first thought.

They back up the previous claims that the midfielder will move for €30m with bonuses, which is what has been stated elsewhere.

Either way, it seems that Gbamin to Everton looks to be happening and could be finalised relatively quickly barring any last-minute hold-ups.

Thursday feels likelier than today, though.
