Liverpool’s loss to Fulham yesterday was only their second in the Premier League so far this season.
Marco Silva’s side had scored three times in the space of 15 minutes in the first half of the game and even though Luis Diaz did make it 3-2 in the second 45, it only proved to be a consolation for Liverpool.
Joachim Andersen impressed for Fulham during the game and after the tie, he spoke to ViaPlay about the result.
He revealed a key statistic that motivated the London side and helped them pick up the win over Liverpool.
He said, via Bold: “We were told that they had not lost away from home this season, so that gave us some motivation. However, I expect them to win the league.”
The Dane also had praise for the goals that Fulham scored during the game.
He said: “We know that we can put all teams under pressure. Those were some great goals, and everyone just worked really hard.”
Andersen also spoke of the possibility of the Cottagers playing in Europe next season.
He said: “It’s clear that it’s close. Now we have seven finals left, and it’s just about giving it the gas. We’re going for a great position, and we’re going for the big thing.”
As things stand, Fulham are eighth in the Premier League and are only five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
The next two weeks will be key for Silva’s side as they have games against Aston Villa, Bournemouth and the Blues themselves.
Winning those games can propel them higher up the table and closer to a Champions League spot.
