Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini will make the final decision on whether Pierluigi Gollini or Etrit Berisha will be his first choice goalkeeper next season. Gollini joined Atalanta on loan from Aston Villa in the last window, but has played just one game since his return to Italy.
Calciomercato have reported Gasperini will make the decision on whether they will redeem Bershia from Lazio in the summer or promote Gollini as his No.1.
Atalanta can purchase Bershia on a permanent deal in the summer with the Serie A side’s sporting director recently stating they’re happy with the form of the Albania international. However, there is still a chance Gasperini could stick with Gollini, and keeping hold of the Aston Villa loanee will be a cheaper option for the Italian club.
Gollini joined Aston Villa from Hellas Verona Verona in the summer, and was installed as the Championship side’s first choice in the first few months of the season.
With the sacking of Roberto De Matteo and the arrival of Steve Bruce as Aston Villa manager Gollini was eventually replaced, which subsequently resulted in his move to Atalanta in January.
