RB Leipzig are beginning to give up on the prospect of appointing Cesc Fabregas as their new manager. There’s been repeat claims of hope in the German media that the Bundesliga club could eventually pry the Spaniard away from Como.

In Italy that’s been repeatedly dismissed, and Bild are now beginning to accept it probably won’t be happening. The same is true with Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner.

So does that present an opportunity for Sheffield Wednesday’s Danny Röhl? The manager had been openly pitching himself for the RB Leipzig job, insisting he’s not too inexperienced, because as well as his time with Sheffield Wednesday he’s also worked at a higher level as an assistant.

Bild mention Danny Röhl in their latest article on RB Leipzig having to change managerial search direction. However, it’s just to rule him out again and say he’s ‘definitely not on the priority list’ at this moment in time.

St Pauli’s Alexander Blessin is now a possibility, with Raúl named as the other name in the picture. The Spanish legend has just left Real Madrid’s Castilla development side and is available for free, plus he has experienced of playing in Germany.

If indeed RB Leipzig do turn to Raúl then that would surely sting for Danny Röhl, but as mentioned in Germany earlier this week, the Sheffield Wednesday manager is also held back by the £5m compensation needed to get him.
