Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka is set to join Borussia Dortmund on deadline day of the winter market.
That’s according to Sky Deutschland journalist Patrick Berger, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share multiple updates.
He initially reported BVB didn’t have an agreement with Chelsea, but there was confidence the move will go through. Berger also stated the plan was for the 21-year-old to travel from London to Paderborn on Sunday.
In another post on X, the journalist claims a ‘full agreement’ has been reached between the Bundesliga side and Chelsea for the midfielder’s loan transfer.
The Englishman is set to undergo medical examinations with BVB on Monday. They will sign the Blues man on loan without a purchase clause.
Berger adds Dortmund will cover the player’s full salary during his temporary stay at the club.
The German club and Chelsea have qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup. The reporter states Chukwuemeka will return to Stamford Bridge before this tournament starts on June 14th.
Chukwuemeka made four appearances in the UEFA Conference League and one in the EFL Cup for Chelsea this season. A loan move to Dortmund would help him enjoy more game time in the second half of this season.
