Fulham failed to sign Silas Katompa Mvumpa, after making an offer to VfB Stuttgart in the winter market.
On February 5th, we covered claims from Germany that Marco Silva’s side are pushing to sign the winger in the summer window.
Fast forward to April and Sky Deutschland now share the latest update
It’s pointed out again that the Premier League side ‘really wanted’ the player in January and were even prepared to offer €20m to Stuttgart. The deal didn’t take shape because Fulham’s bid arrived ‘too late’ in the transfer window.
Sky add Fulham’s interest in the DR Congo international ‘still exists’ and they sent an official to watch him live in action against Eintracht Frankfurt, when he came off the bench late in the game.
Silas has scored five goals and registered five assists from 26 games this season, and his deal lasts until 2026.
It’s claimed the Bundesliga side are demanding a fee between €10m and €15m, and the report says it’s ‘questionable’ whether Marco Silva’s are willing to meet their request. Sky make no mention of the fee Fulham are ready to invest for Silas, that €20m was for a January deal and they’d probably be hesitant now.
The attacker, for his part, is ‘completely open’ about his future. He can see himself at another club next season, but isn’t pushing for a transfer. At the same time, he can imagine staying at Stuttgart and fulfilling his contract.
