Fulham’s interest in São Paulo’s Pablo Maia has been highlighted by the Brazilian media in recent weeks.

Last month, journalist Jorge Nicola stated the London club are willing to pay around €6-7m for the midfielder in January.

On November 17th, Maia told UOL he dreams of making a switch to Europe, when asked about the Fulham links. The same outlet stated the Premier League side are considering making an offer to secure his services.

The 2022 domestic campaign in Brazil came to an end earlier this month. The 20-year-old’s agent, Junior Pedroso, has admitted it would be ideal for his client to continue with his current employer until next summer.

“We have many queries. He caught the attention of the international market, but we are waiting to see if any club will formalise a proposal. Anyway, he is maturing, and it won’t be bad to stay another six months at São Paulo,” Pedroso told UOL.

UOL explain that Marco Silva’s side made a bid of R$ 39m [€5.43m] last month and it was turned down by São Paulo. Maia’s current deal expires in December 2024, and it includes a €50m release clause for clubs from abroad. The representative says this figure is high.

“The clause is high, but it doesn’t match reality. In this European winter window, it is difficult for a club to have a budget for a young player who still needs to adapt,” Pedroso explained.
