Fulham are interested in signing Celta Vigo defender Hugo Mallo, if claims in Spain are to be believed.
Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo reports the newly promoted Premier League club have already made an offer for the player.
The defender has three years left on his contract at Abanca-Balaídos and Slaviša Jokanovic’s side have already submitted a bid of €10m for the Spaniard. The report doesn’t mention if the La Liga outfit accepted the English club’s offer for the 27-year-old.
Mundo Deportivo claims only a contract extension with the ‘consequent economic improvement’ will convince Mallo to continue with Antonio Mohamed’s side. If they decide against offering him a new deal, it would likely improve Fulham ‘s chances of securing his services.
The Cottagers have already seen their right-back Ryan Fredericks join West Ham United earlier in the transfer window. They have Cyrus Christiea as the recognised right-back in the squad, while Calum Chambers, who joined Fulham on loan from Arsenal, can also play in that position.
